Road Trip Tips

One of my favorite media photos of Gus Walz is him driving with his dad, vice-presidential candidate Tim Walz. He looks proud and excited.  They both do, in fact.  Obtaining a driver's license is a big accomplishment for any teenager, and expecially one who is neurodiverse.  A new book helps parents with kids who year to get out on the road, including how to individualize instruction for drivers with special challenges.  Learn more HERE.

Musings from Me

I posted some thoughts on social media this week about what I call "the Gus fuss." My article ties together several recent societal trends and offers simple steps folks can take to build inclusion and show meaningful support (beyond just tweets) for people with disabilities.  This is something we must all consider if we're to make collective progress for our kids and families. It's also especially important as we move closer to U.S. elections in November.  Thx for caring and sharing.

Free Financial Planning Program

My good friend and fellow parent, Michael Beloff, is also an accomplished advisor to families with special needs.  He shares his extensive financial expertise as a featured expert in my new online resource hub for parents.  And he's hosting several free webinars in September and October to provide free advice and recommendations virtually to parents everywhere.  Check out the terrific topics and register HERE.

Good-Bye Paperwork

Here's a new digital platform to help parents manage the monsoons of paperwork generated by our children with disabilities.  For an annual fee of less than $100, the Dani Plan enables families to create an online file system filled with all the important information we collect on our kids' behalf.  It uses data encryption technology and two-factor authentication to ensure privacy, but you can also share files and plans with anyone you designate.  While I haven't tried it yet, this is on my priority list for Fall, since Google Docs no longer feels sufficient.  How are you faring in this facet of life?  Send me your ideas and suggestions HERE anytime..
