All About Abundance

mindset self-care well-being

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about ABUNDANCE.

Every morning when I wake up, I see an abundance of colorful blooms on the hydrangea bush near our back porch. More this year than ever before. A gift of abundant natural beauty to remind me of all that’s good in the world.

Needless to say, I love seeing starting my day with such, well…beautiful abundance.

Beyond our yard, life is full of other abundant things right now – long days filled with summer fun, splendid sunshine, loving family in town to visit, and work that’s meaningful and rewarding. Even my fridge is stocked with fresh, healthy food. And can we talk about the wildlife? Every time I see him, this guy reminds me of my beloved dad, who passed away nearly 13 years ago. The sight of him sparks a smile every time.

All this abundance makes me feel so positive and grateful.

But here’s the thing: I’m also experiencing an abundance of life's messy parts that definitely don’t delight me. Andrew’s wheelchair keeps malfunctioning, and my concern for his supports (along with those for so many other people with disabilities) keeps growing with every real and projected funding cut. Close friends and relatives are struggling with illness and medical concerns, and I’m concerned about them, this country and our world.

Even with abundance, there are two sides to every coin.

Additionally, some important things that I long to have an abundance of still elude me, especially patience, creativity, and acceptance. IYKYK.

I so wish abundance in this aspect of life was more achievable.

I think about these things every morning when I admire my hygrandeas, drink my coffee, and remind myself to:

--Appreciate the abundance of goodness in life.

--Not let the messy parts get the best of me.

--Keep working on the ever-elusive "middle."

It’s kind of like the serenity prayer, Kris-style. And it’s harder some days than others.

Still, I’m convinced that noticing, pondering, and prioritizing this is worth the effort, especially because it helps me be a better partner, parent, and person. "Abundance awareness" = paying attention, plus it's kind of fun.

What’s abundant in your world right now? What are you doing about it? And why does this matter?

Reach out if I can help you with the questions or the answers. Learning to bloom, in abundance, is beautiful.
